Emotional Pain

When one is troubled with oneself, one must face the battles within. Those who do not, create troubles for themselves and more. Such people fight themselves from the pain of their wounded hearts and disillusioned perceptions of reality. People hurt each other because they feel severe pain in their hearts. Pain reduces people’s ability to [...]

Selecting To Learn The German Language

The language spoken by the people of Germany has a very unique and lengthy history. There have been many variations of the language spoken over the centuries including old-high German, middle-high German and early modern-high German. It was at the beginning of the 20th century that standard German became the main form of the language used by citizens. If you are interested in learning this language you should consider Rocket German review.

Early German

Over 95 million people in Europe speak German as their primary language. This has allowed German to become the third most commonly taught language in the world behind Spanish and French. Until the 1800s standard German was only seen in written form. This was due to the wide variety of pronunciations that were used in different regions of Europe. The German language remained divided this way until 1901 when they adopted a recognized, uniform pronunciation standard by which to go by.

Where German Is Spoken

The German language is a close relative of both the Dutch and English languages. German is widely spoken by people living all over Europe as a way to communicate with one another. For example, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium all have a great number of German speaking residents. In Austria alone 89% of the population speaks German as their primary language. In the United States, research shows 5% of the population uses German on a daily basis. These numbers highlight how commonplace the German language has become.

European Recognition

With so many people on the planet speaking German on a daily basis it would surely make sense that it was the official language of its home country, Germany. However, the sole location in Germany that recognizes it as the official language of the people is Liechtenstein. The German language is one of only 23 languages officially recognized by the European Union. It is also the second most commonly used language in Europe behind only English.

German In American History

After America’s Revolutionary War the new Continental Congress got together in Philadelphia to decide on the official language of the newly formed country. English beat German by only one vote to become the language of the United States. Traveling to Germany can be a very exciting experience for those looking to explore the German language further. It would certainly be helpful before you go to learn a few common phrases, however.

There are many colleges and universities that require a student to take a German for certain majors. Some of these majors include chemistry, international business, anatomy, and even mathematics. Learning to speak German will give a person a better vocabulary and understanding of many other languages. It also has been shown that studying German increases a person’s literacy. The Rocket German program is a fantastic way to begin your immersion into the German language. Or, if you need to learn Italian there is also a Rocket Italian reviews program.

Listening to the soundless voice

External form has no alternative but to express inner beauty. At first sight, the world may appear to collapse when “perspective” collapses, a frightening experience with fascinating results. If truth be told, it is often most wise to stay clear of one’s own mind’s machinations. A sincere seeker’s movement is a right move to the [...]

Cardinal-Designate Dolan says “Stay Tuned, as we May Need Your Help Again”

I don’t think he, or the other Bishops, have high hopes that the Administration will back down. Here is a letter he released today:

February 10, 2012

Dear friends in the Lord:

Over the last three weeks, Americans of all religious creeds, and none at all, have united in remarkable concern over the restrictive and immoral mandates ordered by the federal government. This concern is warranted as the proposed rules would require a violation of conscience for so many, and a threat to religious freedom for all.

I thank so many of you, who have enthusiastically been part of this expression of concern, united with your bishops.

Friday’s announcement that the federal government seems to have softened the mandates, and is open to working with us in further progress, is a welcome first step. We must study it carefully.

However, we cannot let up in our concern for the protection of religious freedom and the reverence for conscience which are at the heart of American values.

Stay tuned, as we may need your help again.

Renewed gratitude and prayerful best wishes, I am,

Fraternally yours in Christ,
Cardinal-designate Timothy M. Dolan
Archbishop of New York

UK Christian leaders warn religion is being pushed out of public life – Reuters staff – Reuters

RDFRS UK will be making two announcements next week which will be very relevant in the context of this article. Watch this space!

They are recited at the beginning of Britain’s parliamentary sessions and many school assemblies, but Christian leaders fear prayers could be driven from public life after a court ruled that a council had acted unlawfully by allowing them at meetings.

Although Britain has increasingly become a secular society, it is still a mostly Christian nation, and the Church of England is the established or state church, with the monarch as its supreme governor. But an atheist ex-councillor, backed by the National Secular Society (NSS), on Friday won a High Court judicial review in London, effectively nibbling away at the Church’s influence. It is the latest legal defeat for Christians in the High Court, and came on the same day a religious couple lost their appeal against turning away a gay couple from their Bed and Breakfast guesthouse.

“I’ve no doubt at all that the agenda of the National Secular Society is inch-by-inch to drive religion out of the public sphere,” the Church of England’s Bishop of Exeter, Michael Langrish, told BBC television. “If they get their way it will have enormous implications for things such as prayers in parliament, the Remembrance Day, the Jubilee celebrations (marking the 60-year reign of Queen Elizabeth) and even the singing of the national anthem.”

Government minister Eric Pickles entered the fray by describing the council ruling as “surprising and disappointing”.

“We are a Christian country, with an established Church in England, governed by the Queen,” he said in a statement. “Christianity plays an important part in the culture, heritage and fabric of our nation. The right to worship is a fundamental and hard-fought British liberty.”
