I like what Elizabeth Warren has to say in this video. I’ve always contended with my capitalist interlocutors that there is no such thing as “a self-made man.” Society functions harmoniously, and without all the parts working together, you don’t have the Bill Gates types. In turn then, those who benefit most from society incur a greater responsibility to put back into the society from which they’ve benefited; not least, financially. And, as Warren points out in the video, this is not class warfare. It is simply (what I believe) a proper way to assess society.
Although, to be clear, I’m not afraid of class warfare terminology. It seems that folks on the left try as hard as they can to distance themselves from any kind of argumentation that invokes class warfare. I don’t feel that way. The brute fact of the matter is that America is a society that has various classes which operate and are sustained upon injustices. If making an effort to shed light on those problems is “class warfare,” then…ok!
Cheers.
